Nobody feels like they want to rhyme,
Probably because they do not have the time.
They have school and work too,
Lots of homework just waiting for you.
They sit for hours which turns to days,
They make their wudu and prays.
They make dhikr and dua'ah to the ONE,
Asking if it is possible to worship and have fun.
They ask what's important the dunya of our life is a test,
They say is it better to be a muslim than the rest?
With all these rules getting into their way,
Peer pressure with friends leading them astray.
They are turning left and right not sure where to go,
They are told just chill out and go with the flow.
They cry out in pain not sure what to do,
say Ya Allah, help me make it through.
Parents pressure them to do better than their best,
They say A+ isn't perfect, and you say its only a test.
They make it a big deal and say we want what's best for you,
doesnt matter now if you're hurting, just finish it perfectly, you can do it, i know you can too.
The kids are unsure of what life is to come,
When islam is their deen, and they know where they're from.
But their families mix culture with religion and same it's all one in same,
They do not care if it confuses their kids, they are not the ones to blame.
Parents say to their kids, you cannot go there,
It's a co-ed place, and you must cover your hair.
You wonder why they didn't teach you from the start,
So you could feel Islam within from your heart.
You rather feel it with your mind,
Follow it with reasonings instead of being blind.
But the families say just do as you're told,
we know better than you, and do not be so cold.
It is confusing for the kids today,
To grow up thinking they have no say.
In what to think and how to feel,
and i guess it's up to us, to learn, know, adn teach and then heal.
Insha'Allah we can learn it and say,
O Allah I thank you and pray.
For protecting me and guiding me so true,
I know I could not have done it without you.
Knowing that each day that I pray,
Asking you to help me in each and every way.
Is where I want my deen (iman) to go,
And insha'Allah each day my knowledge will grow.
Insha'Allah one day i'll show,
and help everyone to be true,
and most of all i'll remember You.
always..
We can jam, jive, in style of this place,
Stick together as just one race.
We can sing nasheeds and just basically say,
Make dhikr to Allah, and to Him we pray.
Read Qur'an and follow His Way,
To Him we come from, to return, and obey.
It seems I have written more on here, look
Save all my poems together and put it in a book
publish my poems and do what's right,
talk about beauty of islam, my deen, cuz that's tight.
I must be going but I'll be back,
cuz it's gettin late and i better hit the sack.
Midnight comes in, and I must be asleep,
Waking up early for my kid's sake as i fall in deep.
i go to the park and see the trouble there,
kids vandalizing the park, spray paint cans everywhere.
broken glass on the floor,
dirty napkins near the door.
Someone's trash, they do not care,
They even left their underclothings, wear.
out on the streets, in the park,
probably did it after isha when it got dark.
the kid's parents complain all they like,
the older kids say relax, chill out, and take a hike.
we need a park that is safe for our kids to play,
a slide, a swing, all of those things, we pray.
We all need to work together and clean up this mess,
Talk to the neighbors and people we should address.
Say we wont take this anymore,
Even if we have to go to every single door.
We want our parks to be safe for our kids to play,
It is a sad unfortunate thing to see when a kid says.
mommy what does this mean, the writing on the slide,
and you look on in shock, horror, and pretend to block it and hide.
they keep asking you and you keep ignoring them hoping they'll move on,
but they know it's a bad word, and they wish it to be gone.
some ppl just do not understand nor care,
to how it felt like when they were young, and there.
and how would they feel if the same happened to them,
but it probably did, which is why they're to say,
it doesnt matter, who cares anyways!
I care, and I'm sure you do too,
You need to admit it, and work together it through.
pick up the garbage and put it in the right place,
cuz its the park for everyone, for all the race.
